THROW-A-THANKS GAME

Gratitude. It’s a word that we’ve all used recently. As adults, we’ve had to dig deeper and reevaluate what’s important during this unprecedented time. We have had to really focus on what we are thankful for! We’ve had to come up with ways to model this for our children and students.

I created a game for our first-grade students to do with their families. It’s called Throw-A-Thanks. The students that participated had fun thinking of their answers and sharing them. I have made this available for you to use here

The prep is minimal! Students and families will need to print off the two pages (Rolling Mat and Recording Sheet). If they don’t have a printer, they can use their own recording sheet and look at the Rolling Mat on their screen. A pencil and a die out of a game you have at home will also be needed. I had one parent tell me that they didn’t have a die at their house, so she just asked Siri to roll a die for her. What a great, helpful tip!

There are three rounds for students to play! Included is a free share spot where students can share anything they love and a spot where they can pick a word that describes themselves for that week. This is for students to pick a word that they can refer back to when things get monotonous, tedious, or challenging. Students can write the word and draw a picture that matches the word.

I hope that you and your students or you and your family enjoy this grateful game! It’s a great time to discuss the things that you’re thankful for together.  Download the activity here!
